More Choices for Health-Conscious Consumers

The very fact that you're reading this page shows that you care as much about the food you eat as we do. Whether you're watching your weight, paying attention to dietary preferences like sugar, salt or trans fats, or just want to eat more fruits and vegetables as part of a healthy and balanced diet, Heinz is responding with more choices than ever.

Ida's Ideas

Need advice on eating right? Dr. Ida Laquatra, Heinz’s Director of Global Nutrition, offers helpful, healthful tips to keep you on track. The tips change often, so check back again soon!

Dish It Out

  • Serve meals in single servings on individual plates instead of letting everyone help themselves
  • Place servings on smaller dishes

Avoid Portion Distortion*

How much is a single serving? Check the nutrition label to be sure, but as a general rule, serve up these perfectly proportioned portions:

  • Fruit and veggies the size of your fist
  • Pasta the size of one scoop of ice cream
  • Meat, fish or poultry the size of a deck of cards
  • Snacks like pretzels and chips the size of a cupped handful
  • A potato the size of a computer mouse
  • A bagel the size of a hockey puck
  • A pancake the size of a compact disc
  • Cheese the size of a pair of dice or the size of your thumb
